School board members in districts located in cities with 105,000-125,000 inhabitants (Independence School District) will serve 3-year terms instead of the current term length, effective after August 28, 2026

Elections for these school board positions will be held annually at the same times and places as general municipal elections when terms expire

Students in urban school districts may receive an excused absence to accompany a parent who is voting in any primary, general, or special election

The excused absence for voting is limited to one time per scheduled election

Students returning to school after accompanying a parent to vote are encouraged to wear an official sticker, badge, or other item indicating their attendance at the election
