Requires all covered buildings (residential, commercial, educational, and health care buildings with gas appliances) to install at least one fuel gas alarm in each room containing a gas appliance by January 1, 2028

Fuel gas alarms must be tested and listed by a nationally recognized independent testing laboratory and conform to UL standard 1484 or 2075 with visible ETL or UL certification

After January 1, 2027, purchasers of covered buildings must install fuel gas alarms within 30 days of acquisition or occupancy and submit a signed affidavit of compliance to the Missouri Department of Public Safety

Creates the State Fuel Gas Safety Assistance Fund to provide free or subsidized fuel gas alarms to low-income households, funded by gifts, donations, grants, and bequests

Missouri Department of Public Safety enforces the requirements and may refer violations to the attorney general for civil action, with courts authorized to order compliance, damages, and attorney fees
