Retirees of Missouri cities with fewer than 25,000 inhabitants may continue receiving their retirement allowance while being reemployed by the same political subdivision, effective no earlier than July 1, 2027

Reemployed retirees under this exception will not contribute to the retirement system or earn additional membership service, but the employer must still pay the employer contribution rate

Compensation for rehired retirees must be commensurate with similarly experienced and educated employees per the salary schedule, though salary may be reduced by an amount equal to the member contribution rate percentage

Current law requiring retirants to forfeit one monthly benefit for each month of reemployment remains in effect for cities with 25,000 or more inhabitants

Retirees employed by a different political subdivision than the one providing their retirement allowance may continue receiving benefits during that employment under existing law
