Master key boxes must meet Underwriters Laboratories Standard 1037 and contain keys to access all buildings and rooms, plus accurate maps showing access points, critical utilities, emergency equipment, and surrounding areas

Local law enforcement agencies must receive keys or access codes to the master key boxes; contents are exempt from public records disclosure under Chapter 610

Schools must equip interior doors with anti-intruder locks that can lock from inside or outside and unlock from outside with a key, though this requirement only applies if the General Assembly appropriates funding to cover costs

School employees are granted civil liability immunity for damages related to master key box installation and use, except in cases of gross negligence or bad faith
