Vehicles transporting construction materials (asphalt, concrete, aggregates) from production sites to construction sites may exceed standard weight limits in section 304.180 by up to 10%

Vehicles transporting raw materials (sand, gravel, rock) from origin points to construction material production sites qualify for the same 10% weight limit exemption

Vehicles must be properly maintained, equipped to operate safely at excess weight, and cannot exceed the manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating

The exemption does not apply to the interstate highway system

Vehicles operating at excess weight cannot use bridges with posted weight limits lower than the vehicle's gross weight, and must travel no faster than 30 mph on any bridge with a posted weight limit
