Students in grades 7 and higher must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale to participate in extracurricular or athletic activities, with suspension continuing until the GPA requirement is met in a subsequent semester.

Beginning in the 2010-2011 school year, students must also maintain a weekly grade point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale to participate in extracurricular or athletic activities during that week or the immediately approaching weekend.

Teachers may temporarily revoke a disruptive student's privilege to participate in extracurricular or athletic activities until the student corrects his or her behavior and stops disrupting the classroom.

Teachers must notify the principal and the activity sponsor or coach when temporarily revoking participation privileges due to disruptive behavior, and the principal must require immediate enforcement of the revocation.

The act takes effect July 1, 2010.
