Homeowners who have paid contractors shall have no liability for amounts owed by the contractor to subcontractors, with subcontractors limited to claims against the contractor only.

Amends Mississippi Code Section 85-7-131 to except homeowners from mechanic's lien liability when they have paid the contractor in full.

Amends Mississippi Code Section 85-7-135 to clarify that mechanic's liens exist only in favor of persons directly employed or contracted by the owner.

Amends Mississippi Code Section 85-7-181 to except homeowners from liability to subcontractors and laborers when the contractor has been paid, while preserving the contractor's payment obligation.

Takes effect July 1, 2010.
