Amends Section 19-7-1 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 to allow county jails to be built at any convenient location within the county, rather than requiring placement within the county seat.

Grants county boards of supervisors authority to acquire property by gift or purchase anywhere in the county for the building and use of a jail.

Applies to both counties exempt from countywide road administration systems and those required to operate under countywide road administration as described in Section 19-2-3.

Effective upon passage.
