Commends Captain Laverne Sing for her dedicated service as Mississippi's first female African-American firefighter, beginning duty in June 1979 with the Greenville Fire Department.

Acknowledges her rapid promotion from recruit to Captain and her accomplishments in fire prevention, safety education, and community outreach through public relations programs in schools and care facilities.

Recognizes her as a pioneer and leader for African-American women firefighters in the United States, with certification in Fire Fighter One and CPR training through the American Red Cross.

Notes her service included dispatch operations, volunteer work with the Salvation Army and Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Center (1990-1991), and receipt of the Department's Outstanding Performance Award and Flame Award from the Greenville Chamber of Commerce.

Directs copies of the resolution to be furnished to Captain Sing, the Greenville Fire Department, and the Capitol Press Corps.
