Commends Entergy Corporation and Grand Gulf Nuclear Station employees and management for 25 years of operation providing clean, reliable, and affordable energy to Mississippi since July 1, 1985.

Recognizes Grand Gulf as provider of 22.3 percent of all electricity generated in Mississippi and ranks it among the top three of the nation's 104 nuclear power plants for lifetime electricity output.

Acknowledges Grand Gulf's safety record of more than 12 million hours without a lost time accident and its environmental benefits equivalent to removing almost all motor vehicles from Mississippi's roadways.

Notes the plant is scheduled to become the nation's most powerful single-unit electricity producer upon completion of an extended power upgrade in 2012.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to Grand Gulf Nuclear Station and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
