Commends the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association and Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality for transforming a contaminated former dry cleaning site into the Fairpark District in downtown Tupelo.

Recognizes that environmental studies in 2000 identified soil and groundwater contamination at the site, which the organizations addressed through a Targeted Brownfield Assessment beginning in 2003.

Acknowledges the Fairpark District now includes the Renasant Center for Ideas business incubator, Tupelo Automobile Museum, City Hall, a city park with fountain, and upscale retail and small businesses.

Honors both organizations for receiving a regional Phoenix Award for their work in redeveloping the site in a manner protective of human health and the environment.

Directs copies of the resolution be provided to the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association, Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, and Capitol Press Corps.
