Commends Reverend Dr. Jerry Young on his 30th anniversary as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Jackson, Mississippi, beginning in February 1980.

Recognizes Dr. Young's educational background including degrees from Coahoma Junior College, Rust College, and Reformed Theological Seminary, and his leadership growth of New Hope from 300 members in 1980 to over 3,000 members with an annual budget exceeding $3 million.

Acknowledges his establishment of New Hope Christian Pre-School and Elementary School (SACS accredited for infants through Grade 6) and missionary work including the Honduras Mission Project and relief efforts in Malawi, Africa.

Notes Dr. Young's prominent positions in religious organizations including President of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi and Vice President-at-large of the National Baptist Convention U.S.A., Inc.

Directs that copies of the resolution be furnished to Reverend Dr. Young, New Hope Baptist Church, and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
