Amends Section 41-61-77 of Mississippi Code to require medical examiners performing postmortem examinations and autopsies to be certified in forensic pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Requires certification designation by the State Medical Examiner or Department of Public Safety for pathologists serving in regional medical examiner districts established by adjacent counties.

Applies certification requirement retroactively to all medical examiners regardless of hire date, effective July 1, 2010.

Permits the State Medical Examiner to contract with qualified pathologists and utilize existing public or private laboratory facilities for autopsies and death investigations.
