Authorizes state and local officials to redact individual social security numbers from records published on the Internet or government-controlled websites, effective July 1, 2010.

Prohibits document preparers from including social security numbers in documents filed with chancery clerks unless specifically required by law, without affecting the document's validity or recordability.

Authorizes chancery clerks to redact social security numbers from recorded documents upon written request by the person, surviving spouse, attorney-in-fact, or court-appointed guardian/conservator, for records filed after July 1, 2010.

Specifies that redactions made by chancery clerks or public officials under this act do not constitute violations of Section 97-11-1.
