Madison Shannon Palmer High School Cheerleading Squad won the 2009 Mississippi High School Athletic Association Class AAA/AAAA COED Division State Championship on December 19, 2009, under coaches Yolanda Thomas, Santana Lee, and choreographer Tiffany Rudd.

Squad is the first African-American cheerleading team in Mississippi and the Mississippi Delta to win a state championship in cheerleading.

Team consists of 15 members (9 girls and 6 boys) who practice 6-8 hours per week while maintaining academic standards and supporting school athletic teams at all football and home basketball games.

Squad earned additional honors including 1st Place Coed Cheer and 1st Place Coed Dance at UCA Camp at University of Mississippi in July 2009, and received a bid to compete at the 2010 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Florida.

Legislature commends and congratulates the squad members, coaches, and their parents for their accomplishments and extends best wishes for their future success.
