Dr. Stuart Rockoff of Jackson, Mississippi, received the Mississippi Humanities Council's 2010 Preserver of Mississippi Culture Award, presented on February 26, 2010, for his outstanding work in the field of Jewish history in the American South.

Dr. Rockoff serves as Director of the History Department of the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life and is past President of the Southern Jewish Historical Society.

Dr. Rockoff has researched and documented the Jewish population in Mississippi over its more than 200-year history, including participation in the Mississippi Oral History Program funded by the Mississippi Legislature.

The concurrent resolution, introduced by Senators Blount, Butler, Dearing, and Jackson (32nd) and adopted by both the Senate and House, formally recognizes and commends Dr. Rockoff for his contributions to public humanities.
