Celebrates and commends The Jackson Southernaires, a legendary gospel music group formed in Jackson, Mississippi in 1940 by Frank Crisler, on their 70th anniversary.

Recognizes the group as the first gospel group in Mississippi to use guitar, bass, drum, and keyboard in performances, and notes their 1968 hit single "Too Late" on Duke/Peacock Records became one of the label's largest selling albums.

Acknowledges the group's major accomplishments including 19 Top Ten albums (4 at number one), Grammy nomination in 1979, 1989 Stellar Awards, induction into Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999, and induction into Mississippi Music Hall of Fame in 2002 and 2004.

Recognizes the group's community contributions including hosting a Sunday morning gospel radio show for over 40 years and a five-year television program called "Gospel Unlimited."

Directs that the resolution be presented to The Jackson Southernaires, forwarded to the Mississippi Arts Commission, and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
