Raymond High School "Lady Rangers" Girls Basketball Team won the State Overall "Grand Slam" Championship on March 13, 2010, defeating Horn Lake High School 68-56 at the Mississippi Coliseum with a 33-1 final record.

Janairrika Bland (Southern Miss signee) scored 22 points and Valencia McFarland (Ole Miss signee) scored 19 points in the Grand Slam Championship Game; McFarland was the reigning Miss Basketball.

Lady Rangers won their second consecutive MHSAA Class 4A State Championship on March 6, 2010, defeating New Albany 64-58, and finished the season on a 21-game winning streak.

Head Coach Shay Jackson and the team roster of 20 players are commended and congratulated for bringing honor to Raymond High School, Hinds County, and Mississippi.

Resolution directs that the commendation be presented to Coach Jackson and Principal Benjamin G. Torrey II, forwarded to the Hinds County Board of Education, and distributed to the Capitol Press Corps.
