MS HB1247

Requires all Mississippi hospitals to publicly publish calculations of any discounts given to health insurers on behalf of patients or former patients through newspapers, magazines, notices, circulars, pamphlets, letters, or posters.

Mandates hospitals include itemized information on patient bills showing: amount billed to patient, amount billed to health insurer, amount paid by insurer, percentage discount given to insurer, and amount owed by patient to hospital.

Effective date is July 1, 2011.
