Counties authorized to levy up to 1 mill per annum on taxable property to fund the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Association for construction and operation of the Burn Center Lodge at Crossgates River Oaks Hospital.

Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Association required to hire an independent auditor using generally accepted accounting principles to perform annual financial audits, with results submitted to the Commissioner of Insurance within 180 days of fiscal year end.

Counties prohibited from donating funds to the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Association in any year the association fails to submit its required annual audit report to the Commissioner of Insurance.

Effective date July 1, 2011, with a sunset provision on July 1, 2016 that transitions the burn care fund support to the University of Mississippi Medical Center once the Mississippi Burn Center becomes operational.
