HB 1339 Summary

• Amends Section 71-5-11 of the Mississippi Code to revise the definition of "employment" excluded from unemployment compensation coverage.

• Modifies subsection J(15)(m) to exclude newspaper and shopping news delivery workers from unemployment insurance coverage, except those employed by political subdivisions, state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, Indian tribes, and other entities required by federal statute and regulation to provide coverage.

• Takes effect July 1, 2011.
