Amends Section 25-31-10, Mississippi Code of 1972, to authorize the First Circuit Court District district attorney to appoint three additional full-time criminal investigators for a total of four full-time criminal investigators.

Allows any district attorney to appoint at least one full-time criminal investigator, with specific districts authorized to appoint additional investigators based on circuit designation.

Sets maximum compensation for criminal investigators at $59,500 annually, with discretion for district attorneys based on qualifications and experience, plus necessary travel and expenses.

Prohibits district attorneys and assistant district attorneys from accepting private employment in any matter investigated by their criminal investigators.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
