House Bill 509 Summary

• Amends Section 63-11-30 of Mississippi Code to allow sentences for DUI violations to include house arrest at a private or public entity or inpatient treatment at an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center as an alternative to jail confinement.

• Applies specifically to second DUI convictions committed within five years, where imprisonment or confinement can now include house arrest or rehabilitation center treatment instead of traditional incarceration.

• Effective date is July 1, 2011.
