Amends Section 37-15-33 of Mississippi Code to include homeschooled students among those who may be required to take a test for grade assignment when transferring to a public school.

School administrators must administer the test within 30 days of a transfer application and must notify the applicant at least 5 days before the test date.

Students cannot be assigned to a grade more than three grades above or below the grade they would have been assigned to in their previous school based on test results.

School district superintendents or principals may temporarily assign transferring students to a comparable grade while awaiting test results and grade assignment.

Exempts students transferred within a district by board order and students transferring between districts through state-mandated procedures from the testing requirement.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
