Increases death benefit from the Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters Death Benefits Trust Fund to $100,000 for law enforcement officers killed or fatally injured in the line of duty.

Increases death benefit to $100,000 for fire fighters (including volunteers) killed or fatally injured while engaged in official duties.

Benefits exclude deaths from suicide or intentionally self-inflicted injuries and are paid to designated beneficiaries, or if none designated, to surviving spouse and children equally, then parents, then the estate.

Establishes the Law Enforcement Officers and Fire Fighters Death Benefits Trust Fund in the State Treasury with an initial appropriation of $200,000, to be managed by the Department of Public Safety.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
