Mount Olive High School Pirates football team won their second consecutive MHSAA Class 1A State Championship with a 20-14 victory over Durant High School on December 12, 2010, finishing the season with an 11-4 record.

Senior quarterback Rueben Duckworth led the team with 2,965 yards rushing and 41 touchdowns during the season, and scored the winning touchdown on a 23-yard run in the second half of the championship game.

Head Coach Perry Murphy, named to the position in July 2009, won the 2009 1A Coach of the Year and WDAM Coach of the Year in his first season when the Pirates also won the state championship.

The resolution commends and congratulates the Mount Olive High School Pirates Football Team and Head Coach Perry Murphy for bringing honor to their school, community, and the State of Mississippi.
