Commends and congratulates the Mississippi Nurses Association on celebrating its 100th anniversary, originally founded on June 7, 1911, with ten nurses at Natchez Charity Hospital.

Recognizes the association's major historical achievements, including opposing a 1912 bill that would have prohibited white nurses from caring for Black patients, establishing the Mississippi State Board of Nursing in 1914, and becoming one of the first professional associations to accept Black nurses as members in 1939.

Acknowledges the association's role in advancing nursing education and practice, including pioneering the nurse practitioner program in Mississippi and securing state funding for nursing faculty raises and scholarship programs.

Recognizes the association's advocacy work and emergency response, including assistance to nurses affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and ongoing legislative lobbying on behalf of Mississippi's 39,000-plus registered nurses.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to the Mississippi Nurses Association, the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, and Capitol Press Corps.
