Commends and congratulates Whitney Miller of Poplarville, Mississippi, for winning the title of "MasterChef" on FOX Television's first season of the reality cooking competition series in 2010.

Whitney Miller, a 22-year-old University of Southern Mississippi senior, won $250,000 in prize money and a publishing contract for her own cookbook, defeating 49 other top chefs selected nationally.

Her winning meal consisted of sweet shrimp on crispy corn cake, fried chicken with creamed collard greens, and bread pudding with raspberry coulis and white chocolate sauce.

Miller co-owned a Poplarville restaurant and catering company called Glaze with her mother and began cooking at age 12, making profiteroles by age 14.

Her forthcoming cookbook will feature elevated versions of southern food and center on southern hospitality as a tribute to her 95-year-old great-grandmother.
