Commends and congratulates Kiara Ruffin, a junior from Meridian, Mississippi, on being named the 2010-2011 SWAC Women's Basketball Player of the Year by conference coaches and sports information directors.

Ruffin is the first Alcorn State player to earn this honor since Cherea Wood in 2000-2001.

Led the team with 3.1 steals per game (ranked first in the league) and shot .422 from three-point range, while averaging 17.6 points per game (third in conference) and shooting .800 from the free-throw line (second in conference).

Named SWAC Player of the Week three times and helped Alcorn State finish third in conference standings.

Directs copies of the resolution be furnished to Kiara Ruffin, Alcorn State University, and the Capitol Press Corps.
