Acknowledges home education as a legitimate educational option alongside public and private schools, noting that 1.5 million students (2.9 percent) nationwide were home-educated according to 2007 Department of Education data.

Recognizes historical figures including George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Edison, and Mark Twain as notable Americans educated at home.

States that home-educated children have demonstrated academic and social success, with high percentages obtaining advanced degrees and benefiting from community-based real-life learning opportunities.

Directs copies of the resolution to the State Department of Education and Capitol Press Corps.
