Amends Section 41-29-159 to require health care providers to notify the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics within 24 hours of any drug overdose in patients aged 12 and older.

Notifications must include the drug or drugs involved in the overdose but cannot contain information that would identify the individual patient.

Expands the Bureau of Narcotics' authority to investigate "adverse medical events" caused by drug overdose, in addition to deaths from overdose.

Maintains existing 24-hour notification requirement for coroners and law enforcement to report deaths caused by drug overdose to the Bureau of Narcotics.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
