MS SB2224

Creates a "Mississippi Legislature United States Constitution Study Committee" composed of 3 Senate members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor and 3 House members appointed by the Speaker.

Authorizes the committee to study state and federal laws and their application as defined in the United States Constitution, with duty to report findings and recommended legislation to the Legislature at each regular session.

Grants the committee power to employ counsel, sit during legislative recesses, and maintain complete records of proceedings open to legislative inspection.

Repeals sections 5-3-27, 5-3-29, and 5-3-31 of the Mississippi Code relating to the General Legislative Investigative Committee's study of un-American activities.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
