Amends Section 75-71-607 of the Mississippi Code to clarify that personal information obtained by the Secretary of State during investigations under the Mississippi Securities Act of 2010 is not a public record.

Designates information obtained in connection with audits, inspections, investigations, or examinations as confidential and exempt from the Mississippi Public Records Act of 1983.

Prohibits the Secretary of State and employees from disclosing such information unless necessary for a particular investigation, proceeding, or law enforcement purpose.

Includes specific exemptions for social security numbers, residential addresses and phone numbers (unless used as business addresses/numbers) contained in filed records.

Takes effect upon passage.
