MS SB2436

Requires each city and county school board to mandate that students stand when teachers or administrators enter a classroom and remain standing until instructed to be seated, beginning with the 2011-2012 school year.

Requires students to address teachers and administrators on school property or at school-sponsored events using respectful titles such as "Yes/No, Ma'am/Sir" or "Yes/No, Miss/Mrs./Ms./Mr. (Surname)" as appropriate.

Directs school boards to incorporate these conduct requirements into existing discipline policies or codes of conduct for their school systems.

Authorizes school boards to take appropriate disciplinary actions against students who fail to comply with these requirements.

Effective date: July 1, 2011.
