Senate Bill 2449 Summary

• Authorizes issuance of distinctive motor vehicle license tags for supporters of 11 organizations and causes, including the Mississippi Veterinary Association, Jackson Academy, Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, Brookhaven Academy, Jackson Preparatory School, Ronald Reagan tribute, Boys and Girls Clubs, Rotary International, Animal Rescue League of Laurel, Farm Families of Mississippi, and the Abbie Rogers Civitan Camp.

• Establishes $30 annual additional fee for most distinctive tags (except "We Love Life" tag at $50) with tax collectors retaining $2 per tag for county general fund; remaining fees distributed monthly to designated organizations, Mississippi Burn Care Fund, State Highway Fund, and special fund per Section 27-19-44.2.

• Authorizes distinctive license tags with "DON'T TREAD ON ME" and "WE LOVE LIFE" imprinted thereon, with "WE LOVE LIFE" tags limited to uses other than administrative expenses, legal costs, capital expenditures, or political campaign activities.

• Creates special license tags for horse trailers designed for Mississippi State Equine Association supporters at $30 annual fee with same distribution formula as other distinctive tags.

• Authorizes personalized license tags for noncommercial trailers and amends existing provisions for school district distinctive tags to exempt them from the 300-tag minimum purchase requirement and three-year deadline.
