MS SB2460

Prohibits document preparers from placing social security numbers on documents filed or recorded in chancery clerk offices unless specifically required by law, but does not allow clerks to refuse recording documents for non-compliance or affect document validity.

Authorizes chancery clerks to redact social security numbers from recorded documents upon written request if records are stored in a manner permitting redaction and the request specifically identifies the record to be redacted.

Permits the person whose number appears, their surviving spouse, attorney-in-fact, or court-appointed guardian or conservator to request redaction.

Specifies that redactions made under this section do not constitute a violation of Section 97-11-1.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
