Certified full-time local law enforcement officers performing direct law enforcement duties are eligible for monthly supplemental pay from the State General Fund, with funds remitted to their county or municipality.

Officers employed by agencies accredited by the Mississippi Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission receive $200 per month; those employed by agencies accredited by the National Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission receive $300 per month.

Eligibility requires officers to be commissioned, full-time employees earning at least $350 per week, certified under Title 45 Chapter 6, perform nonclerical law enforcement duties, and complete one year of service.

Officers hired primarily for clerical or non-enforcement duties (including typists, switchboard operators, filing clerks, animal shelter personnel, school crossing guards, cooks, mechanics, and maintenance personnel) are ineligible even if certified.

The Board on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Training may reimburse agencies up to $10,000 for Mississippi accreditation certification costs or up to $25,000 for National Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission certification costs.
