MS SB2598

Increases the maximum annual salary supplement that the Tunica County Board of Supervisors may pay to the sheriff from an unspecified amount to Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000.00).

The supplement is in addition to the base sheriff salary established under Mississippi Code Section 25-3-25(1), which is based on county population.

The Board of Supervisors has discretion to pay the supplement and is not required to do so.

Requires the Mississippi Attorney General to submit the act to the U.S. Attorney General or U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia under the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Takes effect upon approval under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
