MS SB2600

Authorizes issuance of distinctive license tags for trailers designed primarily for horse transport to Mississippi residents who are supporters of the Mississippi State Equine Association.

Imposes an additional annual fee of $30.00 per distinctive tag, collected by county tax collectors and remitted monthly to the Department of Revenue, with $2.00 retained by each tax collector for the county general fund.

Distributes collected fees as follows: $24.00 to the Mississippi State Equine Association, $1.00 to the Mississippi Burn Care Fund, $2.00 to the State Highway Fund, and $1.00 to a special fund under Section 27-19-44.2.

Requires surrender of regular license tags upon issuance of distinctive tags and allows issuance of up to two license decals per distinctive tag; establishes a $10.00 replacement fee for lost or stolen tags with 5% retained by the tax collector.

Effective July 1, 2011.
