MS SB2777

Requires the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (MDITS) to inventory on-premise information technology hardware, including servers and storage devices, for all state agencies, community and junior colleges, and institutions of higher learning.

Mandates that state agencies, community and junior colleges, and institutions of higher learning provide accurate and timely inventory data and cooperate fully with MDITS during the inventory process.

Directs MDITS staff to review inventory results and provide the authority with a prioritized list of candidate agencies for virtualization analysis.

Authorizes the authority to proceed with virtualization analysis and implementation of virtualized servers and storage devices based on available funding, in consultation with relevant agencies and institutions, with hosting location determined at the authority's discretion.

Effective date: July 1, 2011.
