MS SB2825

Requires municipalities to mandate errors and omissions insurance coverage for any person or firm hired as city attorney under Mississippi Code Sections 21-15-25 or 21-15-27.

Permits municipalities to purchase errors and omissions insurance for city attorneys who are bona fide municipal employees, but prohibits purchasing such insurance for attorneys who are not employees.

Authorizes municipal governing authorities to continue discretionary purchase of errors and omissions insurance for other municipal officials and employees.

Makes conforming amendments to Sections 21-15-25 and 21-15-27 regarding municipal attorney employment and compensation provisions.

Takes effect October 1, 2011.
