Removes the requirement that advanced practice registered nurses must practice within a collaborative or consultative relationship with a physician or dentist.

Advanced practice registered nurses must instead practice within the framework of board-approved standing protocols or practice guidelines.

Allows advanced practice registered nurses to diagnose, treat, and manage medical conditions, including prescriptive authority as identified by the board.

Certified nurse midwives and certified nurse practitioners may apply for controlled substance prescriptive authority to prescribe Schedules II-V controlled substances.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
