Opening day proceedings of the 2012 Regular Session of the Mississippi Legislature shall be held in the historic House and Senate Chambers of the Old Capitol Building on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 12:00 noon, with each house meeting in its respective chamber.

Newly elected members shall be sworn in during the opening day proceedings in the Old Capitol Building.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Lieutenant Governor are authorized to jointly direct necessary accommodations for the opening day proceedings, in consultation with the Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

The resolution cites Section 57 of the Mississippi Constitution of 1890, which requires consent from both houses before either may adjourn to a location other than where they usually meet.
