Wayne County High School "War Eagles" boys basketball team defeated Lanier High School 82-74 to win the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 5A State Championship on March 5, 2011, marking the first boys basketball title in school history.

The team finished with a 31-1 record and was ranked No. 3 in The Clarion-Ledger Super 10, winning their 30th consecutive game in the championship game.

Rayford Worsham, a junior, was named Most Valuable Player after recording 18 points and 10 rebounds in the championship game.

The resolution commends Head Coach Ron Norman and the team for bringing honor to Wayne County High School, the community, and the State of Mississippi.

The resolution directs that copies be presented to Coach Norman, the school's principal, and the Wayne County Board of Education.
