Amends Section 25-31-5, Mississippi Code of 1972 to increase authorized legal assistants in the Twelfth Circuit Court District from four (4) to six (6) full-time positions.

Changes are contingent upon either legislative appropriation for salaries, expenses, and fringe benefits, or board of supervisors resolution to fund the positions from county sources.

Allows district attorneys to employ additional legal assistants beyond authorized limits using funds from any source including county funds, federal grants, private foundations, or interlocal agreements.

Requires district attorneys to report funding sources and amounts to county boards of supervisors and the Department of Finance and Administration.

Effective date: July 1, 2012.
