Amends Section 73-59-13, Mississippi Code of 1972, to revise monetary penalties that the State Board of Contractors can assess against residential builders and remodelers found guilty of violations.

Changes the minimum monetary penalty from an unspecified amount to One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per violation, with the maximum penalty remaining at Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) per violation.

Applies to disciplinary actions taken against builders and remodelers for violations including fraud, gross negligence, working on expired licenses, loaning licenses, failing to maintain workers' compensation insurance, and failing to pay for contracted goods or services.

Monetary penalties collected are deposited into the State Board of Contractors Fund and can be enforced through chancery court proceedings if not paid when due.

Takes effect July 1, 2012.
