Amends Section 97-19-55 of Mississippi Code to revise the bad check law regarding worthless checks issued with intent to defraud.

Expands definition of issuing worthless checks to include checks, drafts, or orders tendered for satisfaction of installment contracts, open accounts, and state tax obligations.

Establishes that failure to pay a check within ten (10) days after notice of nonpayment by certified mail or personal delivery creates presumptive evidence of intent to defraud.

Defines issuing worthless checks to also include checks drawn on closed, nonexistent, fictitious accounts, or accounts where the issuer has no interest or authority.

Effective date is July 1, 2012.
