Requires the State Board of Education to maintain a social studies curriculum covering civics, history, geography, and economics to develop responsible citizens in a democratic society

Mandates that any revisions to the 2011 Mississippi Social Studies Framework must be accomplished by an education team using the same process the State Board used for that revision

Requires history courses to focus on historically significant events, periods, and persons while presenting a complete view of history

Prohibits public school history courses from promoting any partisan agenda or philosophy or being revised to create bias toward an ideological position

Effective date of July 1, 2012
