Amends Section 97-17-41 of the Mississippi Code to classify theft of a catalytic converter as grand larceny.

Theft of a catalytic converter is grand larceny regardless of the value, unlike other larceny which requires $500 or more in value.

Conviction for catalytic converter theft carries imprisonment in the Penitentiary for up to 10 years, a fine of up to $10,000, or both.

Becomes effective July 1, 2012.
