Private carriers of property may pay an additional $250.00 annually to haul dirt, sand, gravel, limestone, and other surface minerals within Mississippi.

The surface mineral hauling privilege applies only when materials are transported between locations within Mississippi.

Each person may obtain this privilege for a maximum of two vehicles at any given time.

The bill amends Section 27-19-11 of the Mississippi Code of 1972 regarding motor vehicle privilege taxes.

The act takes effect July 1, 2012.
